Increased housing development and recreational use in the small town of Mosier, located within the Columbia River Gorge, has put additional pressure on local infrastructure, including the quaint downtown. Since 1990, the town has almost doubled in size to 460 people. Residents and visitors alike want a safe, attractive, and functional downtown.
In 2008, an Oregon Solutions project was designated to develop an integrated plan for completion and maintenance of a bike/pedestrian trail and bridge along the Historic Columbia River Highway, and a new bike/pedestrian bridge over Mosier Creek. The project team worked to determine the best pool of possible funds, a viable construction schedule, and budget, and the overall design.
